All 30 Admiral’s Cup boats are moored along the Medina River with 26 in Cowes Yacht Haven—the ‘pit-lane’ for the event. Final preparations are underway at the IRC sail measurement facility, where world-class sailors pace the waiting room, fingers crossed for the all-clear. Once measured, the boats must remain afloat for the rest of the series.

After measurement, the Solent is teeming with life as Admiral’s Cup contenders calibrate their instruments and check rig and sail settings, readying for battle to commence. Boats are in the combat zone, locked and loaded for final preparations.
It’s been 22 years since the Royal Ocean Racing Club has hosted the Admiral’s Cup - it’s probably been even longer than that since Cowes has witnessed such a spectacular array of cutting-edge raceboats and elite sailors.
The Admiral’s Cup Skippers’ Briefing takes place today, Thursday 17th July, at the RORC Clubhouse. The Channel Race for the Admiral’s Cup will start on Saturday 19th July at 10:30 BST. Be prepared for a thrilling close encounter.
